Arsenal were able to return to the top of the Premier League table,
after a hard-fought 2-0 win over Cardiff at the Emirates. The Gunners
were pushed down to second place, after Manchester City beat Swansea 3-2
at the Liberty Stadium and needed all three points to return to the
summit.
However, without Olivier Giroud upfront, the home side lacked thrust
and cutting edge. And it wasn’t until Nicklas Bendtner was called up
from the bench to replace Lukas Podolski, that Arsenal scored in the
88th minute. Walcott made the points safe with a cute lob in the 92nd
minute.
Chelsea defeated Southampton 3-0 at Saint Marys, while Christian
Eriksen scored the winner as Spurs beat United 2-1 at home for the
second consecutive year. Aston Villa claimed a 1-0 away win over
Sunderland, while Everton drew 1-1 with Stoke City.
Luis Suarez scored a stunning free-kick, as Liverpool defeated Hull
City 2-0 at Anfield. West Brom beat Newcastle 1-0, thanks to Behraino’s
late penalty, while Fulham claimed a crucial 2-1 win over 10-man West
Ham.
